Jaumont - Pierre de Soleil

Located in the Moselle department in the north-east of France, the Jaumont quarry encompasses over 200 hectares bordered by Roncourt, Saint-Privat-la-Montagne, Malancourt-la-Montagne and Marange-Silvange.

Over 2 million tons of limestone is extracted annually, by modern, properly sized equipment and means.

Although the quarry’s main activity is geared to the production of crushed limestone and steelworks fillers, freestone production is also a key business sector. The latter has been used for building since the Middle Ages, especially in the Metz area, with Metz Cathedral providing an excellent example.

Roncourt quarry is the last in France to propose this prestigious product. Although mainly used to restore buildings in the region, Jaumont stone is still exported for use in buildings in Europe and around the world.
